NZ titles across the ditch

This year’s Pasifika Film Fest (PFF) delivers a bunch of NZ titles to Australian venues this week and next. The festival will visit NZ in early 2017.

NZ titles making the trip include
Te Arepa Kahi’s POI E: The Story of Our Song, and David Stubb’s docudrama Belief: The Possession of Janet Moses (pictured, top). Anna Marbrook & Mike Single’s Te Mana O Te Moana rounds up the factual titles.

Four shorts get a run out, Todd Karehana’s The Spectacular Imagination Of The Pohara Brothers and Robert George’s Smiths Ave both premiered at the Wairoa Maori Film Festival. Also named are Hanelle Harris’ The Promise Of Piha, recently at imagineNATIVE with Karehana’s short, and Lisa Taouma’s Adorn.

The Pasifika Film Fest runs in Australia until 13 November.

CORRECTION: an earlier version of this article incorrectly called Poi E “NZ’s highest-earning doco at the box office”. That record is held by Chasing Great.
