NZ Web Fest opens doors for 2016 edition

The NZ Web Fest has opened for submissions and confirmed details of its date and venue for its second edition.

Running earlier than last year’s November outing, NZWF16 will take place at AUT in Auckland on 13 August.

The festival is now accepting submissions, with tickets to the event due to go on sale next month. The festival is accepting submissions for Best Web Series, Web Show, Innovation, Special Interest, Unproduced Series/Show, and Outstanding YouTube Vlogger.

For the first time, the festival will also screen international work, with a submission category for International Web Series/Show. All the submission info is here.

This year the festival offer a dedicated programme stream of screenings of finalists’ work ahead of the awards presentations.

NZ On Air has come on board the event as a key sponsor, demonstrating its continuing commitment to work in the digital space.

“Web series provide opportunities for storytellers from across the screen sector to bring their passions and creativity to life. We are excited by the great ideas and innovation happening in web series and want to help the sector develop and deliver,” said NZ On Air’s Head of Digital Brenda Leeuwenberg.

The NZ Web Fest submission deadlines are 31 May (early bird) and 6 July (final).
