NZCS sets awards date

Based on the Australian event the ACS Awards, the NZCS Awards will celebrate the work of NZ cinematographers at an event in Auckland in October. Fujinon Fujifilm will sponsor the event.

Fujifilm GM recording media and optical devices Marc Van Agten said, “Fujinon Fujifilm has been the major national sponsor of the ACS for nine consecutive years. We are delighted to be able to support the NZCS, another great society, who puts advancing the needs of its members and the great craft of cinematography in New Zealand first. We’re looking forward to a long partnership with the NZCS.”

NZCS President Richard Bluck noted Fujinon Fujifilm’s support for the event was a great fit, saying, “It’s great to have Fujinon’s Marc van Agten and Chris Royal on board, given their experience and standing in the industry, and this move will put the Fujinon brand right in front of cinematographers.”

The NZCS’ Dave Cameron noted that the event would celebrate work across film, TV and online. The awards will honour work across 14 categories, awarding gold, silver and/or bronze awards to winners in the manner of advertising awards events rather than naming a single caegory winner.

As well as the category winners, there’ll be two headline awards – the best in show and Cinematographer of the Year.
