The New Zealand Game Developers Conference (NZGDC) has outlined the first details of the programme for its one-day conference next month.
Organisers the NZGDA noted recent successes for the local industry, including seven top 10 iPhone games in the last 9 months. The conference has yet to announce individual speakers, but noted local and trans-Tasman companies participating, including the 16-year old “old hands” of the local industry, PikPok.
NinjaKiwi, Gameloft, Cerebral Fix, Grinding Gear Games, TinMan Games and Australia’s Halfbrick (who also presented at the recent Te Papa games forum) will also present.
Sessions announced so far will cover specific aspects of game creation such as design and art, but also – as last year’s inaugural conference also did – more business-focused sessions, including ones on best practices in smartphone customer acquisition and monetization, building global niche markets, serious and educational games, and film & TV franchise games.
Conference will run at AUT on Friday 28 June. The conference day will be followed by a day of workshops. The conference day costs $70 for NZGDA members, $120 for non-members.
