The NZTV Awards has announced a change to the Best Current Affairs Programme to reflect the changing nature of current affairs content, which is now “broadcast” far beyond traditional television channels.
The change, brought about following consultation with industry representatives, opens up the Best Current Affairs Programme category to digital work. NZME, Stuff, Newsroom, etc are now able to submit to a more appropriate category than Web Series, which helps prevent a skew away from that category’s intended entertainment focus.
The NZ TV Awards Best Current Affairs Programme criteria are now:
A programme offering analysis of important political and social events or issues of the present time, often presented as a packaged /pre-edited programme.
Entries may cover a range of current news, investigative reports, and/or human interest topics.
If the entry is an episode of a multi-part story, each segment must be a straight run without internal editing of programme content (commercials must be removed).
Entries can be any length and are open to submissions from digital platforms.
Keep up with info from the organisers via the NZ TV Awards facebook page.
Entries to the NZ TV Awards close one week today, on 25 August.
