Over the last few years the NZWG has introduced a number of initiatives that are designed to encourage and facilitate the independent creation and development of new writer-driven screenwriting projects. To complete the picture the NZWG is creating a platform by which we can showcase not only the results of these initiatives but the writers themselves.
The writers participating in the Showcase have been invited because they have been successful in applying for NZFC or NZWG Seed funding, have been a finalist in the NZWG Unproduced Feature Film Script competition, or were selected to participate in the Aotearoa Script Lab run by Script-to-Screen.
The NZWG Showcase has two components: online profile pages as part of the NZWG website and a Showcase Day happening on the 26th of September at the Pullman Hotel. The day event is scheduled to fit in with the Script Writer Awards NZ the night before and the Big Screen Symposium happening on the 27th and 28th.
Interested? The online showcase will be going live on the 9th of September. Profiles will be viewable then and these will also be available as a pdf on request. Should you wish to meet with any of the participants to discuss their projects (or your own projects) all you have to do is contact Steven at the NZWG and he will schedule these meetings for you. This isn’t just about pitching single projects, it’s about forming collaborations.
Meetings will be on the 26th and will be for ½-an-hour each. The event will finish with informal networking at the bar.
Full details on the venue and the link to the online showcase will be available from the 9th. Showcase runs 26 September at the Pullman Hotel, Auckland.
