Pukeko scores at Scroz funding round

Pukeko Pictures and Australia’s Goalpost Pictures have been supported for the working titled NZ-Au co-production Project CM, a “unique six-part high-concept genre series”, destined for the ABC in Australia.

It’s not the first venture into co-pro for Goalpost (The Sapphires). The company partnered with Gibson Group for 2011’s Panic at Rock Island.

Pretty much everyone who didn’t sing in The Sapphires is named among the Goalpost producers. Angela Littlejohn (line producer, Pirates of the Airwaves, Field Punishment No.1, Harry, Tangiwai) is named Producer for Pukeko. The company’s co-founder Martin Baynton and US-based Executive Vice-President of Development Adam Fratto named EPs.

All up in the Screen Australia funding announcement, six film productions and six TV productions were supported with a spend of more, projected to generate over $80 million of production.

The only other NZ interest in the announcement was a mention for trans-Tasman producer Tim White (Project L, The Dark Horse, The Most Fun You Can Have Dying), named an EP on Scott Hicks’ documentary feature The Guadagnini Project.

In other trans-Tasman news, Australians will get the first look at Screentime TV series Anzac Girls, featuring Antonia Prebble, this weekend. The show will screen here on Prime.
