Christchurch-based cameraman Waynne Williams is named a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to TV in this year’s Queen’s Birthday honours list.
Primarily working in news during his 50+ year career, and still a stringer for TVNZ, Stewart worked in Vietnam and Malaysia during the wars there, shot the French nuclear testing in the Pacific and covered the Christchurch earthquakes.
He also worked on other fare including for the National Film Unit, on early drama series Pukemanu, helping to set up Fiji TV, and bringing through new NZ talent at the Christchurch-based New Zealand Broadcasting School.
Williams and partner Anne Williams have their own production company, Port Hills Productions. Anne is a producer, having worked on SPP’s Shortland Street, Flux/Pickled Possum series Tiki Tour and long-running TV2 series What Now?.
