Raven Banner takes Turbo Kid for Canada

Montreal collective Roadkill Superstars (RKSS) submitted short T is for Turbo for the first ABCs of Death omnibus feature. RKSS missed out in the competition (which was won by Lee Hardcastle`s T is for Toilet), but it wasn`t the end of the road(kill).

As the feature enters production, Canadian distributor Raven Banner Entertainment has taken Canadian rights (excluding French-speaking Quebec) for NZ-Canada co-production Turbo Kid.

In Toronto last year, Timpson told journalist Laszlo Kriston, “After I saw RKSS`s hilariously gory post-apocalyptic BMX short during the ABCs short film competition, I knew I needed to work with them on expanding it to a feature.”

Production has now begun in Montreal. Ant Timpson and Tim Riley (T&A Films) are among the producers, with the NZFC and Telefilm Canada writing the cheques.

Raven Banner has other business with NZ titles, being named sales agent some time ago for Paul Campion`s (presently dormant) adaptation of Brian Keene`s Dark Hollow. Michael Ironside and Munro Chambers headline the cast for Turbo Kid. Ironside is, coincidentally, attached for Dark Hollow.

Dark Hollow producer Alex Clark was in Hong Kong for FILMART last week, meeting with Raven Banner to discuss other projects he and Campion are developing. Raven Banner have expressed interest in Kill Whitey (also from a Brian Keene book), and discussions continue.
