Originally from Stewart Island, Jamieson joined the industry while working in Queenstown, brought on to1976 TV drama Hunter’s Gold.
A mechanic by trade, he worked on a number of TV productions before moving on to feature productions here and overseas, including Jane Campion’s The Piano. He retired over a decade ago, selling the equipment he’d built up for his Panarat company to John Wheeler.

Following a stroke late last year, Geoffrey “Rat” Jamieson died on 24 May, aged 76. A funeral service will be held at North Shore Memorial Park, 235 Schnapper Road, Albany, at 2.30pm tomorrow (Saturday 28 May). A wake will follow at the Long Room, Ponsonby Road, from 5pm,
