Screen Industries big winners in Hi-Tech Awards

Vista Group, which creates software and systems for cinema management, film distribution, and related analytics, took out the headline Hi-Tech Company of the Year award at Friday’s Hi-Tech Awards gala.

Last year Vista Group established a fund for the benefit of the local industry and put money into an initiative in partnership with the NZFC, the Film Marketing Programme.

One of the companies Vista Group owns, Movio, took out the Software Product category for its data analytics and campaign management software. Movio was nominated last year, in the Emerging Company category.

Also a nominee last year and a winner this was Rush Digital’s Danu Abeysuriya, who took home the Young Achiever award he missed out on in 2015. Rush has worked with companies including TVNZ and PikPok (on Into the Dead).

Cloud video production platform 90 Seconds took two awards: Most Innovative Company and Best Technology Solution for the Creative Sector.

The Innovative Hi-Tech Mobile Product category was won by Serato, primarily a creator of DJ hardware/software but also the creators of Avid plugin Pitch ‘n Time.

The Hi-Tech Awards were presented on Friday 20 May in Auckland. Selected winners were:
