Story Camp Aotearoa 2017 is a rigorous five-day residential lab designed to develop New Zealand feature film projects. The lab, which takes place in Port Waikato, is tailored specifically to meet the development needs of the selected writers or writing teams and their project.
Advisors for 2017 are artistic director of the Sundance Filmmakers Lab Gyula Gazdag, writer, performer and musician Bret McKenzie, screenwriter and Sundance advisor Michael Goldenberg, Australian producer Kath Shelper, acting coach and script advisor Brita McVeigh, producer and filmmaker Ainsley Gardiner, writer and filmmaker Briar Grace-Smith and actor and filmmaker Loren Taylor.
Among those selected is Yamin Tun, also chosen for the lab in 2016 (with a different project). Nic Gorman, whose debut feature Human Traces has just opened in NZ, is also named. The eight projects and talented local writers/writing teams selected to workshop their feature film scripts this summer at Story Camp Aotearoa are:
