ShaaanXO gets Shorty nod

New Zealand social media star Shannon Harris (aka ShaaanXO) has been nominated for Vlogger of the Year at this year’s ‘Shorty Awards’.

The Shorty Awards honour the best of social media by recognising the influencers, brands and organizations on social media channels. Notable past winners include Michelle Obama, Casey Neistat, Malala Yousafzai, Neil Patrick Harris, Taylor Swift, Neil Degrasse Tyson and Lorde.

The prestigious event is run by the Real Time Academy of Short Form Arts and Sciences, a group comprised of leaders in technology, journalism, business and culture whose role is to recognise the top content creators, influencers and organizations on social media.  Winners of the Shorty Awards are chosen through a combination of votes from the public and scores given by the Real Time Academy. The 9th annual awards will be held in April 2017 in New York City.

Julie Cooper, Harris’ talent agent at Johnson and Laird Management, says the nomination is a coup for the Palmerston North-based beauty vlogger. “The Shorty Awards are the social media equivalent of the Oscars so this nomination is a great tribute to Shannon’s hard work across all her social channels.”

Harris continues her reign as the number one most subscribed channel in New Zealand as she closes in on 3 million subscribers and passes 300 million views.  And proving she has business nous as well as social media savvy, the self-taught make-up artist also has a brand new line of make-up brushes as well as her own line of ShaaanXO make-up products.
