Sheffield Doc|Fest gets Spookers

Premiered last month at Hot Docs, Florian Habicht’s Spookers will head to the familiar (to Habicht) territory of Sheffield next month to play the UK’s premiere doco festival.

Habicht’s Pulp: A Film About Life, Death and Supermarkets was largely shot in the city and opened the 2014 festival.

Spookers plays in the festival’s Illuminate competition line-up, which awards “vibrant and innovative filmmaking inspired by scientific understanding”. Spookers is an interesting choice or the line-up, with the five other titles selected addressing suicide, abortion, pandemic diseases and quantum physics.

Sheffield Doc|Fest runs 9 – 14 June.
