Over the Moon, from Media Design School’s James Cunningham has taken the Jury Special Prize at SIGGRAPH’s Computer Animation Festival.
Over the Moon was one of the finalists for this years’ NZIFF New Zealand’s Best competition, and also played in the Comic-Con International Independent Film Festival, at which event Cunningham was also a presenter.
“This is the highest-level award that any of Media Design School’s films have ever received,” noted Cunningham, who’ll be attending SIGGRAPH Asia. Media Design School film Shelved will also screen in SIGGRAPH Asia’s 2014 Computer Animation Festival programme.
SIGGRAPH Asia’s line-up next month includes former Industrial Light & Magic leader and Digital Domain co-founder Scott Ross. Also appearing are AR specialist, Columbia University Professor Steven Feiner; former Weta Digital animator Robb Denovan (King Kong, Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian) who’s now with Pixar; Teresa Chung, GM of Lucasfilm Singapore; Thilo Kuther, CEO of Pixomodo.
This year’s SIGGRAPH Asia shifts to Shenzhen, just across the border from the home of its 2013 edition, Hong Kong, and runs 3 – 6 December.
