What We Do in the Shadows

What We Do won the Audience Award award as well as being one of four titles achieving a Special Mention from the jury for the festival’s official awards.

Mike Cahill’s I Origins won the festival’s main award, the Sitges Official Fantàstic Category feature award, whose jury also gave a Special Mention to The Babadook by recent BSS presenter Jennifer Kent. Repeating her win at Korea’s PiFan, The Babadook’s Essie Davis took the Best Actress gong. At Sitges, the voting was tied, sharing the award between Davis and Julianne Moore, for her turn in David Cronenberg’s Maps to The Stars.

Among the other winners were a number of familiar titles, including Ana Lily Amirpour’s A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night and Jim Mickle’s Cold in July.

Sitges complete winners’ list is here. Sitges ran 3 – 12 October.
