John Maclean’s Slow West, shot in the South Island and produced by Rachel Gardner, is named one of five nominees for the European Film Awards’ European Discovery Prix FIPRESCI.
The award is presented for first features.
Veronika Franz & Severin Fiala’s Austrian Goodnight Mommy, Anna Sofie Hartmann’s Danish-German Limbo, Deniz Gamze Ergüven’s Turkish Mustang and Tom Sommerlatte French-German Summers Downstairs are the other contenders.
52 films from 36 European countries are currently long-listed for the EFA, with nominees for 11 award categories to be announced 7 November. The winners will be announced at the live-streamed European Film Awards ceremony in Berlin on 12 December.
