SPP win at NYF 2012

The 55th New York Festivals International Television & Film Awards announced this year’s winning entries at the 2012 awards ceremony NAB last week.

SPP’s My Wedding and Other Secrets and Wild Coasts both picked up awards, with The Almighty Johnsons and Nothing Trivial also selected as finalists.

Almost 700 shows in film, TV and radio categories made the various finalists lists, with The Almighty Johnsons nominated in the Best Writing category and Nothing Trivial up for Best Drama.

The awards’ big winner was US sports network ESPN, taking the Broadcaster of the Year gong and 43 gold, silver and bronze awards from 61 nominations – several of which were competing against themselves. London-based The Edge Picture Company, which predominantly does TVC and corporate work, took production company of the year.

Roseanne Liang’s My Wedding and Other Secrets, produced by SPP’s John Barnett and Paul Davis took a Bronze in the Best Feature Film category, and was also nominated for directing and acting awards. Craig Potton’s Wild Coasts received a bronze medal in the Environment and Ecology category.
