Apart from delivering an excellent cliffhanger to season 5 last night as it bade farewell to our screens until, um, tomorrow, when season 2 commences ‘encore screenings’, Outrageous Fortune also hit the number 1 spot on Twitter’s trending list.

TV3 released the numbers today, showing an average of 453,600 in the 5+ category, with a reach of 754,000 for the episode, for a share of 35.7%.

In TV3’s preferred 18-49 demographic, the show averaged 289,000 for a 46.2% share, skewed almost 3:2 to female viewers (169,700 to 119,300) and 49.3% in the Auckland market.

Overall the series reached a massive 2,388,600 5+ viewers – over half the population – with 1,224,800 of those in the 18-49 category.

The finale is available for viewing on TV3’s website for one week. Tomorrow night season 2 starts up. Ex-Soprano Edie Falco picks up the reins on Tuesday night next week with the premiere of Nurse Jackie.
