A number of the titles selected for the third edition of Stanley played at SXSW last month, alongside Deathgasm, including Ted Geoghegan’s We Are Still Here and closing film Todd Strauss-Schulson’s The Final Girls.
Jason Lei Howden’s Deathgasm is named as a feature presentation.
Vietnamese director Ham Tran’s Hollow and Over Your Dead Body from Takashi Miike (Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai, 13 Assassins) are the only other feature titles selected from the Asia-Pacific region. Korean director Jae-hyun Jang’s 12th Assistant Deacon and Australian Ryan Coonan’s Waterborne are named in the shorts programme.
Last year What We Do in the Shadows collected the festival’s audience award.
Stanley Film Festival runs 30 April – 3 May.
