Story Edge Sandbox to ponder Christchurch

The second Story Edge Sandbox will focus on what makes a successful interactive story.

Gerard Smyth’s Frank Film (When A City Falls, Christchurch From The Streets) received funding from the NZ on Air Interactive Digital Media Fund for interactive doco project Christchurch Dilemmas. NZ On Air’s Brenda Leeuwenberg, producer Gerard Smyth and developer Tim Chesney will showcase the project.

Brenda says, “Christchurch Dilemmas is a great example of the beauty of the intersection between digital and documentary. The short factual films incorporated into the website provide relevant and compelling documentary content, while the website itself reflects a wealth of additional content and provides a platform for discussion and contribution to the wider context of the story.”

AUT Colab’s Alejandro Davila and developer Taura J Greig (pictured, top) will share Davila’s Masters project to create a VR story with an Oculus Rift.

The Sandbox will also workshop a supplied film script. Story Edge is an initiative of the Documentary Edge Trust, funded by NZ on Air and the New Zealand Film Commission and supported by AUT Colab. Tickets from Eventbrite.
