SXSW to shudder with Deathgasm

Jason Lei Howden’s Deathgasm will have its world premiere in Texas.

The winner of second outing of the Make My Movie competition, announced on Valentine’s Day last year, Deathgasm is “A splatter horror/black comedy about two metalheads struggling to stop a malevolent force which they inadvertently unleashed”.

Deathgasm was shot by Simon Raby (District 9, Elysium, Orphans & Kingdoms) with physical effects from Roger Murray (Slow West, What We Do in the Shadows, Evil Dead).

A second Ant Timpson-produced title, Turbo Kid, follows up its Sundance premiere with a SXSW appearance, as What We Do in the Shadows did last year. Deathgasm and Turbo Kid bot h play in SXSW’s Midnight selection, with the previously-announced Ben Powell’s US-NZ title Barge rounding out the onscreen contribution from NZ.
