Frances Valintine, formerly of Media Design School and now of the Mind Lab by Unitec, last night won the Talent Unleashed Award for Best Start-Up in the Asia-Pacific region, presented digitally by Richard Branson.
The Talent Unleashed Awards were announced at simultaneous events in Auckland, Sydney, Hong Kong and Singapore with judges Branson and Apple’s Steve Wozniak both addressing the winners.
Valintine wins a week’s mentoring in South Africa at Sir Richard Branson’s Centre for Entrepreneurship in Johannesburg, to coincide with Global Entrepreneurial Week in November.
13 NZ regional winners were named across six categories in June. Alongside Valintine were two Wellington nominees in the Digital Content category, Rollo Wenlock for Wipster and Silvia Zuur for the educationally-focused Chalkle.
The Mind Lab by Unitec, which Valintine founded and chairs, was created to provide teachers and students with the opportunity to learn how to integrate technology, enhance digital capability and activate new teaching practices in the classroom.
