Xana Tang and Yoson An have been cast in Australian series Dead Lucky, which starts shooting in Sydney this week. The four-part show is led by Big Screen Symposium 2015 presenter Rachel Griffiths, and will screen in Australia on SBS.
Tang is currently on TV screens here in Filthy Rich and has recently completed shooting for another Aussie show, The Letdown/em>. An is in Tim van Dammen’s upcoming Mega Time Squad and Meg, which gifted Kumeu a couple of decent-sized water tanks and Westmere a lot of people hoping for a glimpse of Jason Statham. An and Tang have both appeared in Roseanne Liang’s webseries Flat3 and Friday Night Bites.
David Caesar will direct Dead Lucky, which was created and written by Ellie Beaumont and Drew Proffitt. Beaumont, Proffitt and Diane Haddon produce, Screen Australia and Create NSW are the primary funders.
Coincidentally, Create NSW also announced two other projects with a NZ connection in its latest funding round. Partho Sen-Gupta’s feature Slam will be produced by former NZFC staffer Michael Wrenn. Rake, one of the Aussie shows which has kept Danielle Cormack busy in recent years, was supported for its fifth season.
