The GC takes The Cure

Among the 49 features screening in next month’s Gold Coast Film Festival (GCFF) is David Gould’s The Cure, getting its first run out in the filmmaker’s home country following its Wellington premiere in February.

Gould’s feature will be accompanied by one of his shorts, The Seed, made in the Cook Islands as part of last year’s FilmRaro Film Challenge.

Also screening, during its 20th anniversary, is Lee Tamahori’s Once Were Warriors.

An earlier trip to Australia saw the film awarded Best Foreign Film at the 1995 AFI Awards – one of several international awards the film collected.

Hopefully not in character, Temuera Morrison will present the film and a post-screening Q&A session.

The GCFF runs 3 – 13 April.
