Thomasin McKenzie signed for US feature

Thomasin McKenzie has been cast in My Abandonment, directed by Debra Granik, which will shoot in Portland, Oregon from the end of March.

Granik won a boatload of gongs and four Oscar nominations for Winter’s Bone, which was produced by 2014 Big Screen Symposium presenter Alix Madigan.

McKenzie appeared as Pixie Hannah in Shortland St, and has also been in two web series, Chaz Harris’ End of Term and the Candle Wasters’ Bright Summer Night.

McKenzie self-taped her audition for My Abandonment in Wellington, where parents Miranda Harcourt and Stuart McKenzie are currently in post with their adaptation of Margaret Mahy’s The Changeover. Thomasin is repped in NZ by GCM, who worked with McKenzie’s US agent and manager to help secure the role.
