Thunderbirds are Go at Screenies

Pukeko Pictures is coming to Screenies Children’s festival with Thunderbirds Are Go, produced by ITV Studios and New Zealand based Pukeko Pictures, in collaboration with Weta Workshop.

Season one episodes Ring of Fire 1 & 2 will screen in a special cinematic event at Screenies on Sunday 25 September, giving audiences the opportunity to see the show on the big screen.

Production Designer and episode director Ben Milsom will lead a two-hour workshop, during which children will have the opportunity to join International Rescue by designing and making their very own character and Thunderbird vehicle out of recycled materials. They will then develop and film a story with their Thunderbird making a daring rescue. The videos will be shared online and judged by Ben Milsom.

Festival Director Janette Howe said, “Ben’s involvement at Screenies is a fantastic opportunity for kids to get behind the scenes of an iconic show. I want children to be able to meet people who work in the industry and be inspired to go from being an audience for content to a content creator.”

The Screenies International Film Festival runs 22 – 25 September at TAPAC, Auckland. The Thunderbirds workshop is limited to 30 participants. Places can be booked online
