TVNZ is pleased to announce that much anticipated new children’s and family series, Thunderbirds Are Go is set to screen in April on TV2.
The reboot of this much-loved series will be created using an innovative mix of CGI animation and live-action miniature sets.
Whenever disaster strikes, International Rescue answers the call! From their hidden island base in the South Pacific, the five Tracy Brothers pilot remarkable, cutting-edge Thunderbird vehicles from the depths of the oceans to the highest reaches of space – all for one purpose: to help others in need.
Thunderbirds Are Go is a co-production between ITV Studios and Pukeko Pictures in association with world-famous Weta Workshop (The Lord of the Rings, Avatar). The 13-part series is produced by Sir Richard Taylor and directed by Wellingtonian David Lane. It features a talented cast led by Rosamund Pike (The World’s End, Gone Girl) as Lady Penelope and David Graham (Thunderbirds 1965) reprising his role as chauffeur and International Rescue agent Parker.
TV2 Network Programmer, Jeanneane McKay says: “Many New Zealanders will remember the original Thunderbirds series. It is already generating much excitement both at home and abroad.
“We can’t wait to launch it on TV2, so closely behind its international debut,” she adds.
