Thunderbirds takes off for China

ITV Studios Global Entertainment, Pukeko Pictures’ partner on the Thunderbirds Are Go show, has announced a sale of the show to the kids channel of China’s state broadcaster CCTV.

CCTV-14 has taken the first season of the show, which is based on Gerry and Sylvia Anderson’s 1960s original. Thunderbirds Are Go mixes CGI animation and live-action miniatures, created by Weta Workshop.

As the Chinese pick up the show’s first season the US air date for the second season has also been announced. On 4 November the show will go live on Amazon’s Prime Video SVOD service. Season two airs in the UK from this weekend (22 October).
