Broadchurch beat Top of the Lake to the Drama Series gong at this morning’s BAFTAs in London.
It’s not clear why TOTL was nominated as a drama series, since The BAFTAs also have categories for single drama/tele-movie and mini-series (in which TOTL has usually been placed at the international awards bashes where it’s been nominated).
Broadchurch was the night’s big winner, converting three of its several nominations into gongs. It arrived on NZ screens on Mothers Day, an ill-conceived debut date given its subject matter. and a second season has recently been confirmed in the UK,
