Two Weta titles in running for VFX Oscar

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the 10 films still under consideration for the Visual Effects gong at next year’s Oscars.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes: I thought you’d be more hairy. And less blue.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies are the two titles on which Weta has worked still moving forward.

The Oscars will name the 2015 nominees on Friday 16 January, with the awards to be presented Monday 23 February (all times NZ).

The films still in contention for the VFX award are:

Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
Godzilla
Guardians of the Galaxy
The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies
Interstellar
Maleficent
Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb
Transformers: Age of Extinction
X-Men: Days of Future Past
