Uni Shorts lines up finalists

35 films will screen in competition at this year’s Uni Shorts International Student Film Festival. The festival’s third edition drew 109 entries from around the globe.

Two German schools dominate the undergraduate and postgraduate fiction categories, scoring nine of the 15 nominations across the two categories. Festival organisers and hosts Unitec racked up a single finalist nomination, with Yoobee the front-runner among the NZ tertiary institutions with five nominations across two categories.

Details of the event’s conference programme are still to come, with Unitec’s Head of Performing & Screen Arts Alex Lee promising “a weekend of exciting dialogue about the issues in today’s ever diversifying filmmaking landscape”.
