Wairoa teases out first titles

Wairoa director Leo Koziol has announced the first titles for this year’s festival, a mix of local and Canadian shorts.

The Maori & Pasifika Short Film Selection names seven titles: Todd Karehana’s The Pōhara Brothers, Tere Harrison’s Run It Straight, Robert George’s Smiths Ave, Ropata Smith-Warren’s Taonga, Kiri Barber & Terrance Raj’s Australian God King And Country (pictured, top), Tom O’Halloran’s The Tongue Of Nakaa, made in Kiribati, and Lawrence Keil’s Tavita/Lani.

The three Canadian titles announced are Jules Koostachin’s Without Words, Christopher Paetkau & Trevor Gill ‘s Tallurutiup Tariunga – Lancaster Sound and the late Lacy Morin-Desjarlais’ Dancing the Space Inbetween.

This year’s Wairoa Maori Film Festival will run Friday 3 – Monday 6 June.
