The sale, initially reported in February, is now complete. Warner Bros Television Group has acquired the non-US interests of production house Eyeworks, including its NZ arm among those based in 15 countries around the world.
Eyeworks here is busy prepping its third series of The Block, recently receiving council permission to bulldoze a couple of houses in Auckland’s Pt. Chev despite local opposition.
Holland is home to Eyeworks’ headquarters, and is also the country where Warners bought up BlazzHofski three years ago. The US company has been growing its TV interests internationally for some years and also acquired the UK’s Shed Media in 2010.
The deal for Eyeworks was reportedly done for around US$270 million, less than a quarter of the value of the recent sale of South Pacific Pictures owner All3Media. As well as the production facilities and assets, Warners also takes on the sale and distribution of Eyeworks’ productions.
