Westside to compete in UK

South Pacific Pictures’ series Westside has been named among the finalists at C21’s International Drama Awards. The show is nominated in the Best Returning Drama series category.

Finalists come from 572 entries across 11 categories. In the Returning Drama category, Westside lines up against two other shows with Kiwi connections, Top of the Lake; China Girl and Fear the Walking Dead as well as UK shows Humans and Broadchurch.

“This is fantastic recognition for the cast and crew of Westside,” said SPP CEO Kelly Martin. “We’re immensely proud of the show and pleased to see it sitting alongside such quality international drama.”

The International Drama Awards Ceremony runs 29 November in London, a few hours (given time differences) ahead of the NZ TV Awards here on 30 November where Westside’s Antonia Prebble competes for the Best Actress gong and the show is up for Best Drama Series.

The nominations at both awards are for season two of Westside, which screened season 3 over winter. The show’s fourth season is currently in production.
