Weta work still in running for VFX gong

Titles on which Weta provided some of the VFX work are still in the running for the VFX Oscar after the list of those not yet dead in the water was released on the weekend.

Weta has its digital digits in The BFG and The Jungle Book (pictured, top), which are among the 10 films still under consideration.

The other eight titles are Arrival, Captain America: Civil War, Deepwater Horizon, Doctor Strange, Fantastic Beasts and, Where to Find Them, Kubo and the Two Strings, Passengers and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

The five nominees will be named at an event on 25 January, when all nominees are announced. The Oscars will be presented on 27 February (both NZ dates).
