No winners but lots of love

NZ films have taken three of the top six slots in the Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) vox pop awards.

Richard Linklater’s Boyhood was named the winning feature film of MIFF’s People’s Choice Awards, with Daniel Siv’s Indonesian music doco Jalanan taking out the top spot once the Doco votes were counted.

Housebound: I told you …

It was among the narrative features that NZ scored, with Gerard Johnstone’s Housebound the third most popular film, Jemaine Clement & Taika Waititi’s What We Do in the Shadows fifth and Curtis Vowell’s Fantail sixth.

Grey Bull

In the short film competition, Eddy Bell’s Grey Bull, shot by NZ-born cinematographer Callan Green, won the Film Victoria Erwin Rado Award for Best Australian Short.
